During your Glassblowing Discovery experience, you will work one-on-one with an experienced instructor to make a custom, colorful blown glass ornament! Our instructor will explain the safety, equipment, and tools that glassblowers use every day to create their art. Participants will have the glassblowing process demonstrated and explained to them, and then one at a time will be coached through the steps of creating a beautiful, colorful piece of their own. This hands-on process will include collecting color onto the surface of molten glass and shaping it with a variety of specialty tools while sitting at the glassblower’s bench. Not comfortable with some of the steps or equipment involved in hot glass making? Fear not, our instructors will adapt to your level of comfort in the hotshop to ensure a wonderful experience. Although you will be glassblowing, this class does not require placing mouths onto the glassblowing pipes. Hand pumps or blowhoses are used to inflate the piece along with the instructors assistance to ensure quality. Participants will have the opportunity to design and assist in creating their piece, but will be guided and assisted by instructors in order to avoid the piece breaking. 2 hour duration. In this workshop, you’ll design and handbuild your own Minnesota‑inspired holiday ornaments using paper clay — a lightweight, flexible clay body that dries naturally and resists cracking. We’ll work with pre‑tinted clays in a custom winter palette of Birch White, Juniper Blue‑Green, Dogwood Red, and Snow Shadow Blue, inspired by local botanicals and snowy landscapes. You’ll learn simple shaping and texturing techniques to create impressions of local winter botanicals and wildlife-inspired stamps, then finish your pieces with optional watercolor washes for soft winter accents. Then, students will create their own French pastry recipe book to keep and use over and over at home! In this three-session class, participants will learn how the brain processes pain and other physical symptoms, why the nervous system can become sensitized, and how stress, fear, and attention can unintentionally reinforce symptom patterns. We will explore common conditions associated with neuroplastic mechanisms, including chronic back pain, migraines, IBS, fibromyalgia, fatigue, and tinnitus. Participants will also be introduced to practical strategies that help retrain the brain and calm the nervous system, including shifts in how symptoms are understood, attention practices, and approaches that help restore a sense of safety in the body. Rise and Rally will introduce participants to two different racquet sports, Pickleball and Pop Tennis. Pickleball is a fun and easy-to-learn sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. While pop tennis is a “mini version” of tennis with a shorter court, smaller paddle and low compression balls. Students will learn the basic rules of both sports including how to serve, score points and rally. No experience necessary and all levels welcome for this morning activity.
