Our classes combine creative exercises with fundamental ballet techniques, helping you develop motor skills, musicality, and a solid understanding of traditional ballet. Whether you’re new to ballet or have previous experience, you’re welcome to join us! Attire: Bring ballet shoes or socks. Students should wear what they feel most comfortable wearing, we suggest something able to move in, and so the instructor can still see the line of the body. (leggings, shorts, tank tops are all options also if student is uncomfortable in a leotard and tights.) Girls/Ladies: leotard (solid color) pink tights pink leather or canvas ballet slippers* no attached or separate skirts (except 20yrs or older) Boys/Men: white form fitting t-shirt black biker shorts or leggings, or black tights white or black leather or canvas ballet slippers (thin white ankle/knee socks can also be worn) Hair: ALL hair should be secured off the face and longer hair in a pony tail or bun. Ballet 1/Pre-Teen Ballet: Ages 8-14
Join our beginner ballet class at Midwest School of Ballet! Our experienced instructors offer a traditional approach focusing on barre work, center work, proper alignment, technique, musicality, and artistry. This class is ideal for students with little to no experience, returning students, or those completing Fundamentals II/III. Attire Leotard – pink, light blue, black, or other pastel colors (may have chiffon skirt attached) Pink tights, white dress ankle socks, or bare legs Ballet slippers* (pink leather or canvas only) or bare feet T-shirt, shorts, biker shorts, or leggings (the more form-fitting and movement-adaptable, the better) Ballet slippers (white or black leather or canvas) or bare feet Hair: All hair should be secured off the face, with longer hair in a ponytail or bun. Avoid purchasing ballet slippers at Target or regular shoe stores. The soles of these ballet slippers tend to be stiff and don't allow for proper pointe movement. Shoes: Should be form-fitting, with the toes resting (not curled under) against the tip of the shoe. Shoes that are too big don't allow for efficient movement.
