Arduino Lab: Make a Spooky Creature Move & Glow - IntergenerationalLifelong LearningCome discover the world of Arduino with Jules Bunch, multi-disciplinary teaching artist. Juleas has been teaching and learning the art of Arduino since discovering it during the pandemic. Bring a spooky creature to life in this hands‑on, multigenerational maker lab. This class is perfect for young coders, yet no coding experience is necessary. You’ll build your own small Halloween character—ghost, scarecrow, or another imaginative creation—and use simple Arduino electronics to make it move and glow. Learn how LEDs, a small fan, and a sensor can work together to create light and motion effects triggered by changes in the environment. Jules will guide you step‑by‑step through wiring, testing, and playful experimentation. The goal: head home with your interactive creature ready to display for Halloween. Astrology 101: Learn Your Own Chart - IntergenerationalLifelong LearningYour natal chart shows the placement of the planets the moment you were born and can give much insight into who you are, your strengths and challenges, your desires and motivations, your karma and fate. Getting to know yourself through your chart can help nurture your whole self. You will learn to read your own chart and build a foundation in the ancient symbolic language of the stars. We will start with the basics: descriptions of the attributes of the 12 signs of the Zodiac, the planets, and the 12 houses. You will learn how the chart is laid out, the importance of the house cusps and how to choose a house system. The basic aspects: squares, oppositions, trines and conjunctions will be covered. We will learn from each other’s charts and share experiences. Software for casting charts will be recommended but is not required. No previous knowledge of astrology. 14 years and older may attend with an adult. Ballet Choreography/Performance - IntergenerationalFitness/AquaticsLearn ballet choreography created just for you! The beauty of ballet is most often seen through choreography and performance. This class allows you to be part of that beauty and fun! You will: Learn a newly choreographed group piece, specifically choreographed for those who have signed up for the class (meaning it will be based on steps you know, for the most part). Rehearse the piece and work to make it better once it is learned. Build strength and work on artistry Perform for your friends or family at the end of the class. (optional) The performance will be in the classroom only and will be optional. Those who chose not to perform will be given “understudy" roles, so you can learn and rehearse but not perform. It is recommended that you have at least a year of dance class experience (current or past) before signing up for this class. You are also required to take the Ballet 1 class that is before this class as a warm up. You must sign up and pay for that class separately. Those who miss the ballet class that day may come to rehearsal and take notes but not dance, as dancing cold is unsafe in ballet. Beginning Copper Foil Stained Glass - IntergenerationalLifelong LearningYou may have wanted to learn how to do stained glass art for a long time but didn't want to invest in expensive materials and tools. Or maybe you wanted to take a class but were deterred by the large class sizes where you feel rushed. Join John Hanson for this Copper Foil Stained Glass class to learn the art of copper foil in a small class setting where you can work at your own pace. Glass shops charge much higher rates for similar classes. You will learn how to make, cut, and use patterns, cut and grind glass, tape glass with copper foil, solder glass, finish the edges with a zinc border, and add rings for hanging. He will also discuss how to use patina and polish to finish the panel. John has been designing, creating, repairing, and restoring antique glass windows for over 25 years. You must have sufficient arm and hand strength to cut and break glass. Bring your own safety glasses/goggles. All tools, supplies, and materials are supplied and each student takes home a small panel. Safety glasses must be brought and used while cutting and grinding glass.
