Skillbuilding: Intro to Lathe, Spindle Turning
In this class you'll learn the ins and outs of spindle turning. The course will start with the anatomy of a lathe and safety while turning, before learning to mount blanks and how to use both carbide and steel tools. Materials will be provided to turn a handle for a screwdriver (the driver itself will be included) or a mallet, or you may come with your own project in mind (feel free to reach out to me in advance of the class if you have another idea, like making a new knob for a bench plane or handle for a chisel). We will end with sanding and finishing on the lathe.
