Are you taking your violin, viola, cello, or bass to camp this summer? Or will you be surrounded by friends and family over the 4th of July with everyone asking you to play a song? Or do you want to show off your chops by learning how to chop (a technique used to create a percussive sound on your string instrument) like a pro!

This summer, the Edina Orchestra Program is happy to launch its first ever "Edina Fiddle Camp" for students in middle and high school who have prior knowledge of how to play their violin, viola, cello, or upright bass! We'll learn tunes by ear (supported by sheet music if needed), how to harmonize a melody, how to lay down a bass line, and how all string instruments can cut loose and jam using bluegrass, old-timey, Celtic, and traditional folk music. Seasoned fiddlers welcomed!

Requirements:
• Participants must have an instruments they can use (exceptions for bass players pending enrollment)
• Participants must have basic knowledge of how to play their instrument with a bow
• Participants must be willing to learn to play music by ear

Registration Deadline

Registration closes at 11:55 PM the Thursday before the start date.

Please note: For classes the week of 6/22, registration closes on 6/17 due to district closures in recognition of Juneteenth. We apologize for any inconvenience this variance may cause.

If you miss the deadline but are still interested, you can contact the Community Ed office. Space may be limited, but we'll try our best to accommodate late registrations.
