Summer Jazz will explore and perform a variety of familiar rock, jazz, and funk tunes. We’ll also spend time on soloing and guided listening to jazz legends. Come learn more about jazz and have fun at the same time. Open to all band students entering grade 7 and 8 in Fall 2026. Previous jazz experience is preferred, but not required. A concert will be held on the day of the final session (June 18). All Band instruments welcome!Piano players must be able to play two hands at the same time.Bass players must be able to read bass music.Rhythm section filled on a first come first served basis.

Young Summer Band is a continuation of the skills you’ve learned in 5th and 6th grade band, and an introduction to new ones. We will play fun large ensemble music which will help you improve individually. A t-shirt is included in the tuition—please indicate adult shirt size, specific instrument (i.e. Alto Sax), and grade entering in Fall 2026 in the registration materials.
