Students will prepare and perform a 30 minute performance of The Jungle Book. Students in second grade are welcome to participate in part of the ensemble, while students in third through fifth grade may audition for speaking roles. All students are important in creating this performance experience. All students will sing and dance during the performance! Students will rehearse at Normandale Elementary with a performance at the Edina High School Performing Arts Center (EPAC). **New this year!!! Get ready to think small and create BIG fun! In this imaginative afterschool art class, students in grades 3–5 will dive into the whimsical world of miniatures. From tiny sculptures that fit in the palm of your hand to miniature paintings and detailed micro-drawings, young artists will explore a variety of materials and techniques on a super small scale. Each week, we'll focus on a new miniature project—like sculpting a tiny meal from clay, painting a pocket-sized landscape, or drawing a whole world on a sticker! Along the way, kids will build their fine motor skills, spark their creativity, and learn that great art doesn’t have to be big to make a big impact. This class will be all about clay! Sculpey, Model Magic and Kiln Fired Clay will be used to create a variety of ceramic pieces to bring home including a clay cupcake, colorful monster friend and a bowl inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe Flower paintings. In Concord Junior Choir, you will learn a variety of songs and improve your musical skills! Rehearse exciting pieces of music with your friends and perform in a culminating combined concert on the last day of the session with the Concord Choir! During your time in Concord Junior Choir, you will improve singing skills, grow musically and have fun! On March 11th (the last day of programming) both Concord Jr. Choir AND Concord Choir will perform a concert for parents, families and friends to attend!
