During your Flameworking Glass Discovery experience, you will work one-on-one with an experienced instructor to create a variety of flower-themed beads. Each student will get their own workstation equipped with a Flameworking torch and all the tools and colors needed to create your unique glass beads. An experienced instructor will lead with a demonstration and guide individuals through the process. Participants will then spend the remainder of the time melting colored glass rods using a tabletop torch and shape them into beads using tools, heat, and gravity. This class is perfect for beginners who would like to try their hands at Flameworking glass. This Glass Discovery experience uses 104 COE glass rods. Students create 1-5 small beads measuring approximately 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in diameter. 3 hours in duration. During your Glassblowing Discovery experience, you will work one-on-one with an experienced instructor to make a solid, colorful glass globe sculpture! Our instructors will explain the safety, equipment, and tools that glassblowers use every day to create their art. Participants will have the glassblowing process demonstrated and explained to them, and then one at a time will be coached through the steps of creating a beautiful, colorful paperweight of their own. This hands-on process will include collecting color onto the surface of molten glass and shaping it with a variety of specialty tools while sitting at the glassblower’s bench. Not comfortable with some of the steps or equipment involved in hot glass making? Fear not, our instructors will adapt to your level of comfort in the hotshop to ensure a wonderful experience. Please note that although you will be glassblowing, this class does not require placing mouths onto the glassblowing pipes since the sculpture is solid and requires no air.
