Come discover the world of Arduino with Jules Bunch, multi-disciplinary teaching artist. Juleas has been teaching and learning the art of Arduino since discovering it during the pandemic. Bring a spooky creature to life in this hands‑on, multigenerational maker lab. This class is perfect for young coders, yet no coding experience is necessary. You’ll build your own small Halloween character—ghost, scarecrow, or another imaginative creation—and use simple Arduino electronics to make it move and glow. Learn how LEDs, a small fan, and a sensor can work together to create light and motion effects triggered by changes in the environment. Jules will guide you step‑by‑step through wiring, testing, and playful experimentation. The goal: head home with your interactive creature ready to display for Halloween. Create Your Own Felt Pouch: Warm up your creativity this fall as you explore how fibers, warmth, soapy water, and motion transform into a soft yet sturdy felted pouch you can use for a variety of things. This pouch will hold your kids’ snacks, your snacks, jewelry, vitamins, cards, and many other things. You’ll learn how to layer wool and silk fibers, use flat resists to build structure, and shape your pouch into clean, intentional forms. Autumn colors—auburn, golden, moss, and berry—will inspire your palette, and all wool and silk fibers are provided. You’ll design your own compartments and tuck in wrapped snacks to test the fit. You’ll leave with a functional wool pouch and the confidence to keep felting at home. 12 years and older may attend with an adult. Both adult and child must register and pay. In this workshop, you’ll design and handbuild your own Minnesota‑inspired holiday ornaments using paper clay — a lightweight, flexible clay body that dries naturally and resists cracking. We’ll work with pre‑tinted clays in a custom winter palette of Birch White, Juniper Blue‑Green, Dogwood Red, and Snow Shadow Blue, inspired by local botanicals and snowy landscapes. You’ll learn simple shaping and texturing techniques to create impressions of local winter botanicals and wildlife-inspired stamps, then finish your pieces with optional watercolor washes for soft winter accents. Learn how to “read” the winter landscape in this intergenerational workshop that blends naturalist skills with hands‑on making. You’ll explore the footprints, gaits, and movement patterns of the wildlife commonly found in Edina—such as deer, fox, rabbit, raccoon, coyote, squirrel, and turkey—and try out stamps for several of Minnesota’s more elusive species, including black bear, bobcat, and wolf. Using soft clay, you’ll create a stamped tile and a simple slab‑form trinket tray featuring your favorite track(s). Students will also learn how to build a cardboard slump mold to support their clay piece as it hardens at home, helping it keep its shape and preventing warping. This workshop is designed for mixed‑age learning, with approachable techniques and plenty of room for creativity. All materials provided; no prior experience needed.
