Hand Knit Chunky Blanket Experience: BASKET WEAVE BLANKET Connect with your creative side and join us for our no-experience-required knitting class. Jeremy Ross, founder of Paint & Sip Minnesota by Your Bearded Artist, will guide you step-by-step through hand knitting your very own soft, chunky blanket. No needles or knitting experience is required and all supplies will be provided. You will receive 140 yards (5 skeins) of size 7 chunky yarn (100% polyester) available in a variety of colors. Your completed blanket will measure approximately 40”x50”. Families can join in on the blanket making fun. Ages 10 and up if accompanied by an adult are welcome to join. Basic Home Electrical Repair Class 1 & 2 combined: Week 1: Learn about the basic home electrical system, different gauges of wire, application and safety. Proper techniques discussed for stripping wire, attaching to outlets, switches and light fixtures, as well as test equipment. We will compare different light bulbs and proper selection of LED light bulbs. Bring straight and Phillips screwdrivers, long nose pliers and wire stripping pliers to class if you have them. Handouts included with the class. Hands-on. Week 2: Continue learning about home electrical repair by attending this “hands-on” class. Prerequisite: Basic Home Electrical Repair Class I. You will install single pole and 3-way switches, outlets and light fixtures to energize a light bulb and test the circuit. We will discuss proper installation of different light fixtures and ceiling fan and how to rewire a lamp and repair extension cords. Are you interested in improving your home? Do you have remodeling or home maintenance questions? Join Peter Schulze, our Woodshop Lead, for our first home improvement class at Edina Community Ed. Peter has 30 years of experience as a remodeler/carpenter and he is eager to share his knowledge with you. Each class will focus on different home improvement topics listed below with dates. Whether you live in Edina, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, or elsewhere, Peter will direct you to the resources you need. You will receive an email with a short google form from Peter before class starts in which you will share plans, questions, and or photos of projects that are on your mind. * This class is meant as an introduction to home improvement and a general understanding of construction principles. The instructor will answer your questions and assist you with your projects but shouldn't replace the need for a professional contractor. 1) November 6, 2026 - Residential Home Fundamentals - This first class will cover the structure, design and landscaping of residential homes including everything you need to know about pulling permits and hiring contractors. 2) November 13, 2026 - Exterior Finishing - In this second class we will discuss the different types of exterior finishes, windows and doors, roofing, flashing, as well as waterproofing, sealing, and insulation. 3) November 20 - Interior Finishing - From drywall to painting, flooring to finished carpentry, Peter will go over all you need to know to make your interior pop! 4) December 4, 2026 - Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC Basics - During this class you will learn about how each of these systems work in your home and give an overview of their fundamental design. Common problems and remodeling concerns will also be addressed. 5) December 11, 2026 - Garages, Porches, Decks, and Landscaping - The final class will look at other structures and landscaping found outside of the home. The class will look at the specifics of garages and driveways, porch/deck design and construction, and different landscaping features such as retaining walls, walkways and fences.

in observance of National Grief Awareness Day on August 30 Jonathan Asher is offering this class to our community on September 1 and on October 5. Please register if you are looking for help for guidance to support someone you know who is grieving a loss. Do you know someone who is grieving? What should you say? What should you do? Even with the best of intentions, most people struggle to find the right words or deeds to support those they're close to who are grieving a loss. Feeling uncomfortable, or fearing they'll make the person feel worse, they simply do nothing - which adds a sense of abandonment to the grief and leaves the griever struggling even more. This 2-hour workshop will help people be more comfortable and better able to support the grievers they care about. It is intended for friends, family, or community members who want to learn how to support children, young adults, or adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. This workshop will: Provide an understanding of what grief is and how it manifests. Introduce meaningful steps for supporting someone who is grieving. Children become aware of death at the sighting of their first dead bug or bird while exploring their surroundings. Taking these natural occurrences, adults can build a foundation of knowledge for children of all ages. Talking about death can feel overwhelming or scary, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether it is the death of a pet or a human loved one, we will discuss how to start a conversation with children, and ways to add information based on an individual child’s age and development. We will discuss recommended words and language, and things to consider when having these conversations. We will discuss children's comprehension of death and typical behaviors grieving children may exhibit. We will share recommended resources and give opportunities to ask questions. This class will be helpful to adults whether they have children, or spend time with children (eg: family members, schools or childcare). We want everyone to feel prepared to have these conversations.
