You'll receive this information after you've registered for the class** You will work one on one with an experienced vocal coach and piano teacher who has taught for over 30 years. Whether you’re new to music or have taken lessons in the past, together you will design a plan that will build from the ground up or off your current musical knowledge with engaging and fun techniques. This course will address basic skills, music theory and musicality that will allow you to progress toward your musical goals and lifelong enjoyment of music. Purchase of books recommended by your teacher will be required for lessons based on individual needs.

    Come and join the beginning of a new-to-Edina program focusing on the development of percussionists/drummers through the thrilling and enjoyable medium of bucket drums. This introduction to percussion and performance class is great for learning the basics of rhythms, rudimentary drumming, reading music and ensemble performance. This class is perfect for all experience levels, whether your student is picking up sticks for the first time or wanting to continue their learning and performing as a drummer. At the end of the session our ensemble will perform at an all school assembly to showcase what they’ve learned.     Join Mrs. Erickson in an after school art class to learn how to make a Linocut, which is a relief printmaking process using linoleum. Students get to create a design, carve it and then print it on a variety of surfaces to create beautiful masterpieces incorporating radial design. All materials are included in the cost of the class.   • Spring Break - Molten Magic! Foci Glass Exploration: Ages 9-13

    This five day camp introduces students to the magic of working with glass in its various forms using glassblowing-shaping molten glass, kilnforming- fusing colorful sheet glass, and flameworking- melting glass over a torch. Participants focus on learning to safely use glass as an artistic expression and make a series of glass sculptures throughout the week. Our unique Spring Break Camp for kids use glass making processes to teach valuable skills such as team building, creative problem solving, and communication with peers and instructors.

  • Yarn Weavings with Mme French-Amara: Gr. 1-2

    Create multiple unique and creative yarn weavings! Over this 5-day class, students will be creating their own small hand woven works of art. With the guidance and inspiration of Normandale Elementary' s licensed and experienced art specialist, Mme Leanne French-Amara, students will be weaving with yarn, fabric, and ribbon. Students will be weaving these different textures into a variety of looms. Our looms will be constructed from cardboard, sticks, paper, and wood. Mme French-Amara has been an art specialist for 30 years, 17 of those years at Normandale Elementary School. She has also been an artist and craft creator since she was in elementary school! Students will sculpt their very own dragon companion, paint colorful potion bottles that look ready for a dungeon shelf, and even create a clay mandrake nestled in a real flower pot—earmuffs not included (but highly recommended!).
