Voguing: A History in Movement - Intergenerational
Join local queer performer, Scott Stafford, for this free 1.5 hour class!
In this workshop, we will explore the history of voguing within the context of the ballroom scene - extending from the early 20th century to current day. Participants will learn phrase material from old way, new way, vogue fem, and runway - breaking down the elements and emphasizing personal expression.
Open to all abilities - no dance or voguing experience needed.

Scott Stafford
Scott's path first intersected with the teachings of qigong in 2013 while attending the American Dance Festival at Duke University. He began studying under Birgit Kraus in 2017, and would later pursue a Daoist Flow Teacher Training in London, U.K. under Mimi Kuo Deemer, Jean Hall, and James Rafael. Additional study includes Paul Wenninger (Tai Ki) and Cary Hakam (Yang Style Taiji).
Scott's influences in qigong include The 8 Silk Brocades, 18 Tai Chi Qigong Forms, 5 Animal Frolics, Yang Style Taiji, Spring Forest Qigong, and 5 Element Forms. His pedagogy is rooted in Daoist principles flow, rhythm, and harmony with the natural world - teaching an engaged flow to support clarity, soft strength, and balance.
