Learn to Play Chess- Open/Intro to Chess
Have you always wanted to learn to play chess or just improve your chess playing ability? Professor Berger (a.k.a. Coach Dave) has experience teaching players of all skill levels and ages. He uses a practical approach so everyone learns as they play.
As you learn the game, Coach Dave will add in a variety of exercises, techniques, and strategies so that you can advance your playing ability to the level you wish to achieve. Coach Dave is a competitive chess player who has played in many tournaments.
Learn to Play Chess” is a course designed in a practical way so that players learn the game as they play. The focus is on having fun and appreciating the neat puzzles that are created during a chess match. Improvement at chess is not about winning but more about better understanding of the game and its unique and fun conundrums.

David Alan Berger
Professor Dave Berger or Coach Dave has experience teaching chess on almost every level including collegiate, high school, middle school, elementary school, community education, and 55 +. He is a retired sociology professor that spent most of his 35-year career at Inver Hills Community College. Dave has also competed and coached in many chess tournaments
