This Comprehensive ACT Prep Course focuses on content review and test-taking strategies to improve your ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science scores. (Online) Driver's Education: Classroom Instruction & Behind the Wheel: Ages 14.5-18
Safeway Driving School provides a comprehensive driver education program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for safe and responsible driving. Our program is open to students aged 14.5 to 18, offering flexibility and convenience for families. What's Included: 30 hours of classroom instruction: Covering state-approved curriculum to prepare students for their permit exam. 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training: Individualized, hands-on driving lessons with professional, experienced instructors. Flexible scheduling: Convenient class times and driving sessions designed to fit your student's busy schedule, with easy make-up options available for busy teenaged schedules. State certification: Upon completion of the program, students will receive all necessary documentation to apply for their Minnesota driver’s license. Important Timelines and Planning Tips: Students have one year from the end of the classroom portion or their 15th birthday, whichever is later, to complete their three, 2 hour, behind-the-wheel lessons. Safeway recommends 30 days between each behind-the-wheel lesson, with the final lesson completed about 30 days before the potential road test. Afterschool Art - Magic School with Mrs. Steven: Gr. 3-5
Calling all young witches and wizards! Step into an enchanted world of magic through art in this spellbinding afterschool class for grades 3–5. Each week, we’ll dive into a new magical project inspired by the creatures, potions, and plants of the wizarding world. Students will sculpt their very own dragon companion, paint colorful potion bottles that look ready for a dungeon shelf, and even create a clay mandrake nestled in a real flower pot—earmuffs not included (but highly recommended!). This class is perfect for fans of magical schools who love to get creative, use their imagination, and bring a little magic to life through hands-on art-making. Thinking, Feeling, Expressing, and Creating! Students will unwind and relax after school days by bringing what's inside of them to the outside on paper. Mindful projects like bracelet making with positive words, prayer and/or wish boxes, kaleidoscope art, and model magic creatures are all in this class. Ballet 1/Pre-Teen Ballet: Ages 8-14
Join our beginner ballet class at Midwest School of Ballet! Our experienced instructors offer a traditional approach focusing on barre work, center work, proper alignment, technique, musicality, and artistry. This class is ideal for students with little to no experience, returning students, or those completing Fundamentals II/III. Attire Leotard – pink, light blue, black, or other pastel colors (may have chiffon skirt attached) Pink tights, white dress ankle socks, or bare legs Ballet slippers* (pink leather or canvas only) or bare feet T-shirt, shorts, biker shorts, or leggings (the more form-fitting and movement-adaptable, the better) Ballet slippers (white or black leather or canvas) or bare feet Hair: All hair should be secured off the face, with longer hair in a ponytail or bun. Avoid purchasing ballet slippers at Target or regular shoe stores. The soles of these ballet slippers tend to be stiff and don't allow for proper pointe movement. Shoes: Should be form-fitting, with the toes resting (not curled under) against the tip of the shoe. Shoes that are too big don't allow for efficient movement. Birding 101- Be the Bird Nerd You Were Meant to Be: Gr. 2-5
Put your exploration skills to the test in the all-new afterschool enrichment camp led by Highlands teacher, Steph Molitor! Students will learn the basics that all birders use to help in identifying our avian friends. These fundamentals are the start to a lifelong hobby that gets you out, in nature, and flexing your scientific muscles. Plus, birding can be done on any location on Earth! How do you identify birds by their plumage? What unique sounds can pinpoint a species? Can you tell birds apart by their tracks? Learn this and so much more! Each week students will be introduced to common Minnesota birds and create a take-home birding guide. Each class will end with a birding session on the school grounds. During each lesson, students will build with LEGOs and create coding sequences for programming their little LEGO robots, then brainstorm and develop creative solutions to improve their designs. ***Prerequisites: Participation is limited to divers who can successfully demonstrate dives from all five dive groups (forward, back, reverse, inward and twisting groups), or with instructor approval. Key elements of throwing, fielding/catching, batting, and baserunning will be taught and practiced, and players will be grouped and challenged at an appropriate level in a fun, positive environment while learning values of ‘Respect, Hustle, and Pride’. Camp ends with a scrimmage the final day. Athletes should bring a water bottle and a baseball glove (spikes and bats are optional). Baseballs and bats are provided. DASH Sports flag football camps provide players with a well-rounded football experience in a little to no contact safe environment. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced, and players will be grouped and challenged at an appropriate level in a fun, positive environment while learning values of ‘Respect, Hustle, and Pride’. Camp ends with a scrimmage the final day. Athletes should bring a water bottle (spikes/cleats and mouth guards are optional). Footballs and flag belts are provided. -
DASH Flag Football Tykes: Ages 2-3
DASH Sports Flag Football Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the great game of football in a little to no contact safe environment. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. Athletes should bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing & shoes (spikes/cleats are optional). Footballs and flag belts are provided. Parent participation is required for the 2-3yr old age group and recommended when needed for the 4+ year old age group. -

This camp runs simultaneously with our NFL Flag Football League on Saturdays and includes practice time each day and also the opportunity to cheer and display routines on the sidelines at the games!
